Where does the time go?

How is it almost April?  No, I am being serious; how is that possible?  How is RNR SF Half less then two weeks away?  How is Nike DC Half and Wildflower within a month? My mind is seriously blown. And it's definitely terrified for the next six weeks.  The good news is my body is feeling really strong.  The bad news is that I am not sure that's enough to hit my goals for the next few weeks but my head is in the right place so we'll hope for the best!

I've still been skimping on my long runs:(  I've gotten in some great 8-10 milers but those should be 13-15 milers. I've been extremely active just not necessarily sticking to my specific training plan.  We've been hiking, biking and kayaking...oh my!  I blame the state of California for my being ill-prepared for next weeks half marathon.  It's so beautiful here and there are so many areas to explore and activities to partake in.  Also that darn 70 degree weather. When MFR says, "hey do you want to get up early and go kayaking with otters, day-tripping with elephant seals and climbing mountains in Tahoe?" It's REALLY hard to say, "no, I have to spend 3 hours running or getting a long bike in."  There is just too much to see and do and not enough time in the day.  Not to mention we've both been really busy at work and I've been traveling the past two weeks (Sacramento, Sonoma, Paso Robles, etc...)  so we're really trying to take advantage of our weekends.

Tahoe hiking!

Oh hello friend.

Sonoma in the morning - wine country you have my heart.

As I said before, the good news is I am feeling really strong.  For those who know me, you know that the words eating healthy are not really in my vocabulary.  However, I have been eating much "healthier" in the past month or so.  It helps that MFR is also on a health kick that seems to have trickled down to me.  Now don't get me wrong, you could still write an epic love story about my relationship with cheese and MFR has a serious sweet tooth that is still not under control but we're doing much better.  Baby steps away from the cupcakes.  We've cut out a lot of carbs, increased our protein, cut "down" on the alcohol etc... Again it's nothing groundbreaking but it's a start.  I've also been diligent about hydrating more during the day and taking my vitamins regularly.  It's amazing how little changes like that really do make a difference.

So you take the good with the bad.  I am still faster then I have been in over a year; I am just not as fast as I'd like to be.  I think RNR SF next weekend will be a really good test and then I'll reevaluate my schedule for the next 4 weeks before DC & Wildflower.

Other random updates:
  • The new NUUN flavors are BOMB.COM - Cherry Limeade and I are becoming besties at very rapid pace.
  • I've actually been doing 2-3 morning workouts a week lately, I hardly recognize myself.
  • I recently started reading Eat, Live, Run and I've already made 4 of Jenna's dishes and they were all amazing - I highly recommend it!
  • Finally; the NUUN HTC team application is open so that's what I'll be working on for the next 10 days since it will take me that long to figure out how to make a video...

  1. I feel like my running has gotten faster and I wish RNR SF was at the end of a rest week instead of at the end of the 3rd week in my building block because I think I would have potential to PR. I am super excited to visit SF! I am defintely obsessively thinking about my NUUN video as well!!
