January Sats & Race Goal

In an effort to post once a week and hold myself accountable I have a very sloppy update.  I didn't get to my mid-week post because I was swamped at work and busy going to concerts and eating this:

Found: Wine Bar two blocks from my house that has to-die-for happy hour and wine list that will make you cry it's so good!
Ya know, the usual.

I am currently en route (on a flight) to So Cal to run my first race of the year...Surf City Half Marathon!  Although my training wasn't perfect (I only did two double digit runs) I've kept a pretty consistent running schedule up and I feel like this is going to be a great jumping off point for MTB marathon training.  Do I think I will break 2 hours and PR? No. I am giving myself a goal of 2:08 which is really random but 2:10 seems too slow (though still in the right direction after last years post March races - my shameful 2:20's) and 2:05 seems a little ambitious.  I am going to concentrate on going out slow since I haven't been doing that in my training runs (see: I live on a big hill.)

I know now how much I needed this race break to get back into shape and the love of running and not just "getting through" the race.  I've been looking forward to this race and even tried on race day outfits earlier this week because I was so anxious.  Of course I still didn't start packing my suitcase until midnight last night - some things never change.

January Stats:
  • Running: 62 Miles
  • Biking: 42 Miles
  • Swimming: 2400 Meters
  • Spinning: 45 Miles (3 classes)
